Youghiogheny River at Confluence Rating & Ohiopyle Correlation
Yough River Recreation Information:
The Middle Yough is a very popular white water recreation area, particularly during the summer when other streams are too low to run. There is no transmitter at the Ohiopyle gage, however, the correlation given below is generally reliable.

Notes:
The travel time between the Confluence gage and Ohiopyle is around three to four hours. Changes in the Yough Dam release at 9 am may not show up at Ohiopyle until after noon.
Check the uncontrolled flow using the Ursina and Markleton gages to determine whether significant changes in the uncontrolled flow can be expected. A rainstorm in Maryland can have significant effects.
The Ohiopyle correlation is generally reliable, but variations of several inches should come as no surprise, especially at lower flows.
