The Big Laurel |
"The Big Laurel (NC) is running when the difference between the French Broad in Asheville and the French Broad in Newport is 2,000 cfs." Chris Bell |

Elk - The Twisting Falls Section |
"The Twisting Falls section of the Elk (NC) is running when the Watuaga is over 300 cfs (this was the old rule of thumb, the levels on the Watuaga seem to have changed a bit since a big flood two years ago)." Chris Bell "I've been shut down on this before...I'd say 500 to be safe." Leland |
Wilson Creek |
"Wilson Creek (NC) is running when the Watuaga is over 200 cfs (again, this is the old rule; the rule now may be "running if the Watauga is over 180 cfs")." Chris Bell "The more time that passes, the more I think there is really no correlation between these two levels, since I've seen Wilson blown out (11 ft) when the Watauga didn't break 1000 cfs, and also seen Wilson empty when Watauga was reading 400. I think these two may be too far apart." Leland |

Linville River |
"The Linville River (NC) is running when the Watuaga is over 300 cfs (old rule)." Chris Bell "I'd go more like 400 - 500 cfs." Leland |

Big Creek |
"Big Creek (NC) is running when the Little Pigeon is over 1,600 cfs." Chris Bell |
